A saturday afternoon. This recording was creating using a kyros 7015 mid. Owing to the quality of equipment this recording has a surreal and other world feel.

I needed a creaky crank for "once upon a mattress" when the queen lowers the bird cage. So a layered a squeek sound with a crank sound. Sounds used 60082 and 78937.

Watt a sounds and wildgooses. Here i share with you another nature sound collected in may 2014 on the northsea-island of speakers eye (spiekeroog). Sounds of the tidelands 1 and 2 and flying wildgooses were recorded in may 2014 too. The wadden sea is famous for its rich flora and fauna, especially birds. Hundreds of thousands of waders (shorebirds), ducks, and geese use the area as a migration stopover or wintering site, and it is also rich habitat for gulls and terns. I wanted to record the fountain sound as well, but the fountain had already been turned off. You can hear some bird, rustling of the wind in the trees and traffic in the distance. During the covid-19 lockdown, i spent some time walking where the city meets a mountain and discovered an area with loud but subtle electric infrastructure wires. These, along with cars, birds, and rustling leaves, are recorded with binaural microphones and cropped down to one minute.

The sounds of birdcalls in port stephens, nsw, at around 6am in spring time. November 2015. There are doves, curlews, magpies, rainbow lorikeets, corellas, and different sea birds. At 17:20, the kookaburras kick in, and at 17:38 you can hear a koala grunting. Recorded with a zoom h2, surround sound. Edited on premiere pro cc.

For the recording, i used the tree-ear method, holding the microphones on either side of a tree, which results in a very wide stereo field (considering the capsules are omni). It was recorded in my backyard on a winter day which was actually more like a spring day.

Sound description: hundreds of crows squawking on a breezy afternoon. In nature you have a "gaggle" of geese or a "pod" of whales, but a "flock" of birds, if they happen to be crows is actually called "a murder of crows". An appropriate name if you happen to be standing underneath hundreds of them in the trees. They emit a murderous ;) squawk and screech for hours. This was a digital audio recording, done at 48 mhz at a group of trees a mile from a country freeway. You can still hear the ambient sounds of the distant cars.
